ritpop pioneers Blur will receive a special prize Brit Awards for his contribution to the music industry, reports Reuters. The award ceremony will take place musicians in London February 21, 2012.

Its very nice – to be recognized for all the work done, for all the suffering and joy that are associated with the creation and existence of the group, – said the team leader Damon Albarn in his official statement on the occasion of the awarding of an honorary Blur Brit Award.

Blur Group was formed in 1989 in London. The composition of the team included lead singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree. Team debut album was released in 1991. The album Leisure took seventh place in the charts at home musicians. The first number one in the discography of Blur became the third album Parklife in 1994.

In 2003, Blur took a sabbatical. Temporary waiver of performances and studio work was connected with the departure of the band Graham Coxon. In 2009 the band reunited once again and gave several concerts at music festivals. However, they noted that it is not going to record new material, but still released a new single in 2010.

Also, as Alex James recently said in an interview with NME, it is possible that in the near future, Blur will record anything. According to the musician during the winter holidays are going to see the band and quite possibly, agree to work together.

In previous years, received the honorary Brit Awards, Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, U2, Sting, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Oasis, and others.
